FAQ

Burn permits for the White Lake area are issued directly by the White Lake Fire Authority. To request one, please call the station at (231) 893-6503 during regular business hours.

Burn permits cannot be requested online — a firefighter will confirm conditions, location, and materials before approval is given.

Before calling, please also check the Michigan DNR burn conditions for Muskegon County to ensure burning is allowed today. You can find the DNR burn conditions map (updated daily at 9am) here: DNR Burn Conditions Map.

Important: Open burning is not permitted within Whitehall City limits at any time regardless of conditions.
